Meet Dr. Lin
Thomas H.S. Lin DMD, MS, CAGS - Board Certified
Dr. Lin is a specialist in periodontics and recently joined the practice as an associate. He obtained his dental degree from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine and received numerous awards including being selected as a member in the Omicron Kappa Opsilon Honor Dental Society. After graduating from dental school, he further pursued training in the field of periodontology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine for three years where he also obtained his Master in Oral Biology. At graduation, he received the Director's Award given to only one resident a year based on his clinical and academic excellence. After graduating from the specialty program, he stayed as a fellow of periodontology for a year at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where he learned advanced clinical research. His main interest in the field of periodontology is implant site development which includes advanced bone reconstruction and soft tissue plastic surgery. Dr. Lin also obtained his diplomate status with the American Board of Periodontology soon after graduation.
Ever since he was a dental student, Dr. Lin was enthusiastic about the knowledge of dentistry and actively pursued opportunities to do research and presentations. He firmly believes a clinician needs to have fundamental knowledge of basic/clinical research because it is only through research that a clinician can improve and stay informed about the latest advances in dentistry. He had the opportunity to present his research result to the whole school during Science Day in dental school. During his residency, he was one of the residents representing the department to present surgical cases to other schools. After graduation, he also presented at the American Association of Dental research (AADR) on the data from his thesis. Dr. Lin continuously to seek opportunity to learn and possibly present because it is through presenting that one will truly learn. Other than research, Dr. Lin also enjoys teaching. He was actively involved in teaching when he was a resident and participated as a clinical coordinator in predoctoral teaching.
Dr. Lin remains active in organized dentistry. He is an active member of the following professional organizations:
- American Dental Association
